Steve Weber Puts Us To Sleep (literally)

Wow, its incredible that 10 years have past since we graduated!! I’ve enjoyed reading the many updates and finding out what everyone has been doing. Here’s a quick update on me.

After graduation, I attended Brigham Young University for a semester and then served a 2 year church mission to Munich, Germany. Jemand Sprecht Deutsch? If you’re planning on taking a trip to Europe, don’t exclude Germany or Switzerland as they are 2 of the most beautiful countries/places I have ever been. A sister missionary set me up with her sister, Katie, when I returned to the States and Katie and I got married 8 months later. I attended BYU and graduated with a BS in Microbiology. We had our first child, Shaun, in the middle of my sophomore year. During college, as well, I worked as a medical coordinator taking mentally handicapped individuals to doctor appointments and as a microbiologist for a local health food company.

We moved from Provo, Utah down to Arizona for 4 fun years of medical school. It was a lot of fun dissecting the cadavers and cramming my brain with lots of good knowledge. We had our second child, Rachel, during my first year. I took step 1 and step 2 boards and am so happy that they are over. Katie gave birth to our third child (Nathan) this past August during my 4th year. I am excited to finally graduate from medical school this June!!

My family and I are currently in the process of moving from Arizona to Toledo, Ohio in early June. I am doing my internship there for 1 year and then we’ll move to Ann Arbor (University of Michigan) for my residency in Anesthesiology. Yep, I am going to be the physician that puts you to sleep before surgery, a gas passer one could say. Only 4 more years of training and then I can get a real job. At least I’ll be paid during residency. I can’t wait to start paying off my $250,000 in loans! I am jealous of you all that have real jobs and homes. We have one more year of apartment living and then hopefully we’ll buy a house in Ann Arbor.

Well life is good. My wife and I celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary this August and our kids, Shaun (5), Rachel (3) and Nathan (9 months), are getting so big. I hope everyone is happy and healthy!

P.S. I’ll try and get Steph to send an update. Basically she has been married ~8 years, lives in Rochester, Minnesota where her husband is a resident in interventional radiology at the Mayo Clinic. She has a boy and a girl and they recently just bought their first home.

Nick Hilton Life Recap

Any way, here is a little about me and my life since 1997. Wow, just writing that makes me seem old…oh well. After high school, just like any other good Mormon boy, I served a mission in the Dominican Republic and had the time of my life. I learned Spanish, how to be on my own and how to loose weight very rapidly. After 2 years I returned home at 6’4” 160 lbs. If you thought I was skinny before you should have seen me then.

Over the next year I gained my weight back, worked and had some good times with Abe Swensen and Ryan Majors while attending BSU. At BSU I met a girl, no not the girl of my dreams, but she knew the girl of my dreams, Jamie Lamb. For a year we dated and were engaged and then on November 17, 2000 we were married. Life was good; I kept on with BSU and worked through several odd jobs while we had our first boy, Graeson, in 2002. After 4 years at BSU without a degree I decided to call it quits and do my own thing. I dove into the construction business, began to build homes and run a finish carpentry crew. My wife and I had our second boy, Maguire, in 2004 and found our lives full of just about everything. So full in fact that we decided to modify my career, I became a real estate appraiser. We kept the home building business going but dropped the finish carpentry and picked up the Appraisals. Along with that came some real estate investing and guess what, yup, another child. On April 29, 2007 my wife gave birth to our new daughter, Andelin.
.
.
We are happy, healthy and currently found living in downtown Boise. Jamie, my wife, is from Utah and will not leave Boise so, I’m afraid we are here to stay. It is a good thing, however, because there are not too many native Idahoans anymore. Also, Idaho is a great place to do all that we love; fish, ski, camp, hike and just kick back. With all that who would want to live in New York City, they make that crappy salsa! (Jeff says - Nick, I concur...NYC has crappy mexican food, though it is improving rapidly as more Mexicans move here).

Well, it’s not much, but it’s my life and everything in between has made the difference. My family and I look forward to seeing everyone.

My Turn To Report

I think it is only fair that I, Jeff Mulcock, do a post about myself considering I keep asking for you to update me on the last 10 years of your life.

I kind of split my life after Centennial up into two very distinct groups: University life and New York life. It is amazing how different those two stages in my life have really been. Environment, friends, daily life all very different...but hopefully people would say I have remained relatively the same person since high school.

So after high school I went to college. I got accepted into USC in Los Angeles as well as BYU in Provo, Utah. Originally, I really, really wanted to go to USC to study film. But then I looked at the cost of tuition ($30K+ a year) and opted to to head to BYU ($3K a year) - plus my boys Mikey Smith and Scott Henneman would be there. My BYU experience in a way was an extension of high school in that I hung out with a lot of my Boise friends. I lived with Scott, Mikey, Eric Atwood, John Root, and Kelly Frew...and we kept the Centennial spirit alive with buttrock BBQ's and Boise reminiscing. I really enjoyed those four years at BYU because it always felt like I was with family having people I grew up with around all the time. I got a degree in advertising and also studied film theory.

Since I was little I've always known I wanted to live in New York. I am drawn to big cities and the constant visual stimulation and opportunity they provide. Three days after graduation I packed up everything I had and moved out here, without a job or ever having stepped foot in NYC. I love it here and if I can afford it, would love to live here forever. I work in advertising and take part in a million things each week, from concerts to art to museums to parties to travel to movie making, etc. etc. etc. I am very involved in making horror movies out here (my favorite genre) as a hobby. You can check out a preview of my last film here - though the sound is a little off. Here is a collection of some of my favorite photos of me in New York.
.

I do advertising for Subway Restaurants - and sometimes I just gots to support my brands. I have also worked on BMW and Dannon Yogurt.

Kelly Frew, Ryan Fisher, and Rob Chatterton partied with me one year for New Years in Times Square.

Ben Wilson and wife also came recently to enjoy some art and the craziest clown show ever.

I am a member of the New York Lawn Bowling Club in Central Park. We participate in lawn bowling on Saturday afternoons and early mornings to ease the stress of New York madness.

This is a picture of my movie premier in Washington DC. One of my horror movies got played in a movie theater down there. One of my best friends lives there and she was in the film along with her cousin and uncle (pictured).

It all comes down to this: I'm 28 and single and have loved every minute of it with no regrets whatsoever. I started seeing someone last year and have fallen madly in love. Her name is Caitlin and strangely, she is from Idaho. I met her in North Carolina at a party on the beach and we have been together ever since. Last Friday I asked her to marry me - the answer was Yes. So we will be getting married on August 4th in New York City, which is where we met and call home. I guess this will be a third section of my life starting, fittingly, along with our 10 year reunion. We'll be in Boise for an Idaho reception just in time for the reunion and hope to see you all there!

Sara Morgan Finds Her Way To New York

Through this reunion, I have found out I have a neighbor here in New York City - Sara Morgan. She sent me an update below:

You could say that I am taking the long road...After high school I went to work as a bank teller for First Security Bank. Anyone who knows me would be laughing here because I don't even balance my own check book. Surprisingly I worked there for a little over a year. It helped me to fund a trip to England and Wales with the BIU Institute choir. I attended College of Southern Idaho majoring in Commercial Art. I got through one semester when I decided to serve an LDS mission. I served in the California San Diego mission. It was a little different because each day would be spent at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center or Temple grounds and then proselyting the rest of the day. Oh, the stories I could tell...But I will spare you all the details. I'll just say that the decision to go was one of the best things I could ever do and I have no regrets.

After that I went to Salt Lake City and got my Associates of Applied Science Degree in Interior Design at LDS Business College. I moved back to Boise where I worked as a Design Consultant at Norwalk, the custom furniture store, and started my own side design consultant business as well. Then, one day a customer came in who was building a beautiful cabin/mansion in McCall. She soon became a friend and mentor of sorts and encouraged me to go back to school. Long story short, I found Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. My mentor flew me out to see the school (and a couple others). I was quickly accepted (to my surprise) and arrived here just last August.

So, here I am in Brooklyn. I just caught my first Mets game the other night and had a blast. There is still so much to be explored here, I just love it. I recently started an internship with Steinway & Son's (yep, the piano company) in the city. I will be working full time this summer and it is not likely that I will be able to make it to the reunion :( But if anyone is going to be in the New York area it would be great to meet up!
